Natural Femina
by Tigris Powers

Feminae, I prefer to use the original word to describe us,
as it turns out, we were first classified according to our breasts.
This is natural, as they are our unique and astonishing gift.
We are not merely the wife of a man, how silly,
as the word “woman” proclaims. We are the spirit of the
Goddess coursing through the vein. She also gifted us with a heart
within our chest. The wisdom is that man carries this heart too,
for the heart of the human pumps the blood of God and Goddess
alike. It’s time to tip the slanted scale back toward the Moon.

To reach the heart of humanity is a difficult task, I know.
We must break through the concrete musculature that
has grown. With soft and delicate hands, we shall carry
the love that through our collective womb is born.
Else who shall nurture the Mother beneath our feet?
Who will love Her and fulfill Her needs; despite the
fact that She asks, when there is, oh, so much pulling
at our sleeves. Remember, She has planted the seed.

Feminae, I believe we are living a new evolution on this planet.
Our sweet Mother, Gaia, has transmuted into the Crone.
She speaks with the Raven’s echoed tone. Listen, oh listen!
She caws for our hearts to welcome the child. Innocent and new,
She quietly awaits rebirth from within Gaia’s womb; and as She smiles, we smile. To honor Her is a responsibility, not for feminae alone, but for all of humanity.  We are the Mothers from this day
forward. We must not forget Her, abandon the nest,
for She will wait in hunger and unrest.

Femina may, quite literally, mean, “I give you life”. It is true
that to “mother” has not everything to do with giving birth
to a child from one’s womb. Rather, it has more to do with
honoring the Spirit and allowing it to thrive, to give life to
the creative force inside. This is the birth rite of every femina
that walks the Earth: to give of our soul, so that another
may more deeply live, for we recognize that the veil is thin,
and the face of the Goddess resides therein.
